In lees than two weeks after buying it, I used it to figure out why my GPS would not find a new doctor's office. The map showed that his office is in the county, not the city. Next time I had to put his zip code into the GPS.

Oversized guide make locating desired area a breeze. Print is good. Maps of area are enlarged and also good paper quality.

This is the product to get if you're going to drive around the Seattle area. Every last street, alley, and cul-de-sac n three counties is here and clearly labeled.The one shortcoming of this map is that Thomas Bros didn't integrate the three counties like they did with the LA area maps. As a result, some of the pages are out of sequence and the arrows pointing to the next page in a given direction refer to the locator map for the county instead of the detail map in the next county.The easy trick to get around this is that moving north is always -30 map numbers, and moving south is always +30 map numbers.

Great - hard to find these days.

I just got my new 2008 Thomas Guide and I'm coming on Amazon to find some 2007 Thomas Guides (hopefully some are still around). I have used this system for over 20 years and have purchased many of these for my clients!! Like the other reviewer indicated there are pages in the Seattle/Snohomish book that don't "path" between the counties as they did in past years but a few minutes making notes on various pages took care of that.However they also made several other changes that dramatically change the form of past years so if you are a past user read on.. the actual print area of the map is LESS on the page and thus the street letters and numbers crowd poorly together on many critical map pages. Some pages are very confusing to even see the actual streets. This hopefully will be corrected in future editions if they move the margins back out to 1/4 inch from the edge and change some fonts and bold type back (Hence I'm looking for more of last years book) and they also dropped the grid guides (on the tops of the pages) so if you read top to bottom it will be confusing for you. (If you never owned one buy it and you won't know its that bad)Bottom line. I gave my new book to a client and will keep my old ones til next year. Don't get me wrong these are awesome books!!!! .. and far superior to anything online but I need to get stronger reading glasses.The idea was good. Larger print.. but but smaller page?? Sounds like a Seattle traffic report.. If you need it or you lost your old one.. BUY IT otherwise draw in the new streets get out the tape for the loose pages and look again next issue.

An upfront confession: When we want to change something about ourselves, say our style of parenting, it's often very difficult to do with nothing more than desire. I've found, however, that if I can see the issue differently it often becomes much easier to operate differently, even when the circumstances are the same.The Danish Way of Parenting encourages us to take a long view in children's development, and this can allow us to see our role as parents in a new way. For example, the authors claim that in Denmark there is no such thing as the "Terrible Twos." Of course two-year-olds in Denmark are not some placid freaks of nature, but the Danes call this step in children's development the "Boundary Age," and don't see it as something to dread or get upset about. In other words, while we in US tend to see a two-year old at a defiant, willful stage that we must deal with by establishing our authority, the Danes see this age as the time when children start growing and experimenting to find out about the world and their abilities. Part of that experimentation involves the child learning where his boundaries are. No one argues that the child should get his way through temper tantrums, but it's easier not to overreact to children's behavior if we don't frame it as a direct challenge to our authority, but instead see it as an attempt to find out where their boundaries are.Much of the Danish way to parent seems to depend more on both parents being more involved in hands on parenting than we usually see in the United States. And their culture seems to encourage more interaction with the extended family than ours does, with their socializing appearing to be more child centered than ours. Those sorts of conditions require a larger number of people being on the same page to support children, and may not be useful as a model here. But the general way Danes see children's development and their relationship to their children might shed a lot of light on child rearing practices we can, and perhaps should, change.

I feel like sometimes the author doesn't really understand the studies she's reading. You know those news write-ups about a study, and then you go and read the study and it seems like the journalist had no idea what they were reading? That's sort of the feeling I get reading this book. There are some nice parts, but nothing too mindblowing. The author's tone is a bit weird--if you end up reading it you'll get what I mean. She's an American trying to understand a different culture, but through her own American perspective. So it does come off as a little tone deaf. I did enjoy the section about empathy training in schools.

Amazing book. People have noticed change in my interaction with kids. I was always told I was great with kids, now I am learning to be even better.I am much more calm and better understand from their prospective. There is no one book on parenting but this whole book should be one of the chapters.

I enjoy learning about parenting techniques, styles, and methods of other cultures. I think it helps to keep things in perspective and is definitely good for thought. I've now recommended this book to several people because I enjoyed it so much! I appreciate that the authors didn't spend half the book explaining their education and how you should follow their methods because they are the smartest, most experienced, and have more credentials than anyone else in the world offering parenting advice. I also felt that it was a nice, easy-to-read, high level, big-picture kind of book. There was no "if your child does that, you should do this" sort of instruction. I really liked that it was more about general concepts, like reframing, with relatable examples. I find myself recognizing and thinking about the various concepts and ideas in my everyday interactions with my son much more so than any other book I've read (I've read quite a few), and it doesn't really require any effort to make the little changes in language and perception that I've made. I guess you could say that the book really expanded my understanding. I highly recommend this book!

The tone of the book is a bit strange, more like a fetishization of Danish culture and parenting than a serious comparison of parenting styles and why they may produce different results. It's far inferior to books like Achtung Baby, which I found provided much greater detail and insight.

I wasn't sure how this book would be written. I had heard the author do a detailed presentation of numbers in Scripture and it was excellent. I learned about the meaning of Bible numbers several years ago. I'm always curious to understand the meaning behind words and numbers in the Bible, I think it's a fascinating study. I've often heard what various numbers mean, and I can remember the meaning of some numbers, like 7, easily. Other number meanings I forget as easily! So what I wanted was a book that would give a brief description of the main characteristic of each number with a detailed explanation of that meaning. That's exactly what this book is. Each chapter is a number, and it goes up to 20, then it goes by 5's to 50, and it includes a handful of numbers over 50. It's a great resource!

I chose this book because my elderly mother saw it discussed on a daytime talk show, and she asked me to buy it and help her follow the plan. Mom has dementia and doesn't realize that she doesn't have the type of brain fog described in this book. The book does discuss dementia, and overcoming brain fog can be helpful in pushing back the onset of dementia for some people. However, my mother is not the target audience for this book. However, he recommends 1/2 tsp turmeric with 1/2 tsp black pepper in an ounce of cold water. Cayenne and ginger are optional. Don't do it! Yes to the turmeric, NO to 1/2 tsp black pepper! Just a PINCH of black pepper is enough to make. Black pepper not only makes turmeric curcumin more bioavailable, it also can impact any prescription or OTC medications you may take. Please research your medications first to make sure you are safe. You can consume turmeric at the same time as a meal with a little bit of fat, as fat also increases the bioavailability of curcumin.

This is a very good book for anyone that is interested in not only cleaing thier mind but making their life calm and healthy. Having a family history of Alzheimers this book was especially interesting to me. Many of the things that Dr. Dow says I have read elsewhere, but he goes in to much more detail. The only complaint I have is that when reading the fish one should eat and the fish to stay away from I found that the more common fish are the ones to not eat. I immediately tried to puchase some of the healthy fish, but found that I couldn't find places to puchase it. It would be much more helpful if information was included on where to puchase some of the foods listed in the book that are what you should be eating. Remember many people that read this book live in rural America and don't have the resources of big cities.

I bought this book as a present for my aunt. She is scared because of early signs of dementia. I saw the interview Dr. Mike Dow did on The Doctors tv show. That interview persuaded me to get the book and I'm so glad I did!! It is a treasure. It will aid in everyday maintenance and getting into a brain exercise regiment. Brain exercises are the best thing to aid us in keeping our minds well maintained. It is a must read.

The book revealed that some types of food can make disaster in organism, especially in terms of brain. All facts are grounded in science reports.Also, author makes recommendations regarding good food for brain and mind. Excellent. Book proved to me my guessing, when I eat something I do not feel well and cannot think clearly.

I ordered this after seeing the author on TV. The book makes sense and is helpful in understanding we have some control over the outcome of our brains functionality. I would recommend this to all who have concerns over brain fog. Some of the tips and guide lines have helped us both.

This is a great book. I wish I had it some 20 to 30 years ago. I am 81 and can see some results already, after trying two major changes in my living/eating habits. Thank you so much Dr. Dow.

This manual does not live up to the hype that the publisher put out. The illustrations are rudimentary and the definitions are shallow. Most of the illustrations have to do with obvious or outdated construction items. This may be a useful manual for people who are starting out in the industry (or history buffs), but definitely not for the seasoned professionals. One more book to gather dust on the shelve...

This book has great descriptions and pictures of the terms. It is taylored mostly toward the building industry and less toward transportation and heavy civil, but it still has some terms concerning those in it.

I wish I had this book when I first started working after school. You will probably never part with it as it is a very good and handy reference book. Just finished reading every chapter for a class I took. Excellent explanations of multiple topics leaves reader informed and a more capable person. The explanation of money and how it works in the current system is better than any economics book or class I have ever taken. Very impressed.

Good book, it's helped my lil brother in his class of Anthropology at his college.

Good, already highlighted though. You get what you pay for.

Basic book

Amazing

As an instructor, I was disappointed with this book. It is only 8 chapters, and spends limited time on many important subjects to an introduction to anthropology class. I have a semester long course, and this means I need to get 4 lectures of material out of each chapter. The problem is, the questions in each chapter divide up content in such awkward ways that I cannot viably use it to fill a class. I have to supplement it heavily (for every 5 slides based on the book, I need to add 20 slides of new material). Additionally, the online content, visuals, and studies are mostly outdated with examples reaching back into the 80s for American culture -- decades before the majority of undergraduate students were born. The online powerpoints use the same (again outdated) black-and-white photos from the book, which makes sense for legal purposes, but is less than ideal for lectures. Finally, I've been uncomfortable with the number of generalizations presented in the book and the lack of research to support those remarks. Some of the statements in the book are almost antithetical to anthropology because they universalize so much, and this is worsened in online lecture materials where the content is further reduced.

Required for college course and hard to find - price was better, too!
