Michael has an amazing gift for taking the complex worlds of fractal transformations and making bite sized candy pieces. Even something as eye-boggling as the Mandelbrot set is broken down into simple easy to follow steps. -- He has a charming habit of using his pet cats as models and commentary. -- A recipient of the DeVane award for outstanding undergraduate teaching, he draws from all areas of human experience to demonstrate the fundamental relations of fractals to nature, human or otherwise.
