Based on the book's description, I was not expecting this to be Kynan's origin story of sorts at all. Wicked Force takes us back to when Jericho and Kynan are just starting Jameson Security and making a name for themselves in Vegas.When 26 year old Kynan takes an assignment as bodyguard to 19 year old up and coming singer Joslyn Meyers, he has absolutely no intention of falling for his client- yet that is exactly what happens. Joslyn is young, fresh and unpretentious despite her mother's push to make her a household name. Kynan sees the human side of her that just loves to sing even as she experiences major nerves every time she walks out on stage. Trouble is brewing in the form of a Hollywood agent who seems to be a precursor to the #MeToo movement and Joslyn's mother's ambitions that are being made into Joslyn's own future despite the fact it is not what she wants.Kynan and Joslyn have obvious chemistry as you read, and the 7 year age difference really is not a factor. Kynan is devilishly hot behind closed doors and nothing but supportive of Joslyn's choices no matter where they may take her as long as she is happy. The ending is not quite what I expected, but I think that was the theme of this book for me overall. It didn't really follow the script of the blurb in my opinion which is not necessarily a bad thing- it was just unexpected. I have been intrigued by Kynan in the Wicked Horse Vegas series and I've been anxiously waiting for his time in the spotlight in a book of his own. We are now left to wait for Code Name Genesis in May of this year to find out what happens between the closing pages of this story and the time we meet him in WHV before Joslyn walks back into his life again.
**I voluntarily read an early copy of this title in exchange for an honest review**Sawyer Bennett is one of my go to authors and it's another great offering from her. Wicked Force is part of the Kristen Proby crossover series, but regardless if you've read any Proby book's, you can still enjoy this one.We are introduced to Kynan McGrath when he is hired by his buddy Jerico Jameson to work for his newly formed security firm The Jameson Group. His first assignment is to be the bodyguard for up and coming singer Joslyn Meyers. Joslyn's stepmother feels that she is in danger with trajectory that her career is beginning to take and so she hires The Jameson Group to make sure she is protected.It's clear from the moment that Kynan and Joslyn meet that there is a connection there. With the nature of their relationship, it's clear they shouldn't get involved with one another, but will they give into their attraction or will their careers end up keeping them apart in the end?It's hard not to like both of these characters. Certainly Kynan is strong, confident and he boasts a British accent, which is never a deterrent. While Joslyn is still trying to find her footing, she's got a good head on her shoulders and she has great instincts, not to mention her singing talents.I really enjoyed this and I'm looking forward to Sawyer Bennett's upcoming Jameson Force Security series as well!
I really enjoyed this book until the end! I wouldn’t have read it if I had known it was a HFN (happy for now) knowing they will be breaking up in the end so the author can release her new book in May of them getting back together. I did struggle a bit with the h’s age (19) which is very young for a HEA. I don’t know if I will read anymore of the series without doing my research first!
Wicked Force is #4.5 book in the Wicked Horse Vegas series.And, this is in The Kristen Proby Crossover Collection which features a new novel by Kristen Proby and six by some of her favorite writers.Wicked Force is Joslyn Meyers and Kynan McGrath’s story.Joslyn has a stalker. She is a celebrity and is now running. Kynan works for Jericho, the owner The Jameson Group and his friend. He has been given the job of keeping Joslyn safe from an over-zealous fan.He is attracted to her but she is a client and he does try to resist her. But, when you are thrown together the amount of hours that they were. it was bound to happen.While this book was not a favorite for me. It is a set up for what’s to come in the next book, Code Name Genesis. Which will be a continuation to Joslyn and Kynan’s story. I can’t wait to read the rest of their story.
So I know this is a crossover series and I’ll just start off by saying I’ve never read the other author before so right off the bat I knew not to go in with super high expectations but at the same time we’re talking about Sawyer Bennett and she’s one of my go to authors and I love her books but sadly this one just didn’t do it for me. And it really sucks to say that because I’ve honestly loved all her books. I almost feel let down because I’ve been waiting for kynans book and he’s been written like this amazing strong tough guy in the previous books and don’t get me wrong he sorta still is but I feel his character fell flat from what Sawyer Bennett led me to believe in the other books where he was described . With that being said, I’ll still read her and I know she writes amazing but this one just wasn’t cutting it.
Everything Wicked, Sawyer Bennett writes just peaks your interest more and more. With Wicked Force we meet the new men of The Jameson Group. Jerico Jameson starts the group and brings in the best of the best and that is where meet Kynan McGrath a fellow military man and the perfect guy who will protect the up and coming rising pop star Joslyn Meyers.Joslyn Meyers is a great talent and has an amazing singing career that is on the rise, with that comes risks so when her stepmother feels she needs security she calls the best but the moment Joslyn & Kynan meet there is just something that connects them.You can’t help watch how they come together and cheer them on but will it all be for nothing or will they be able to overcome the outside pulls of their careers.
