About the Author
Master Sculptor, Marilyn Ines Rodriguez, is a professionally trained classical sculptor whose main focus is the traditional representation of the human figure, equine form, and one-of-a-kind stone carvings. After graduating with a Bachelor's of Science Degree in Business Administration from San Francisco State University, she moved to Europe where her fervor for classical sculpture was ignited. When she returned to the U.S., she pursued her classical sculpture training for five years under the tutelage of Master Sculptor Harriet Moore in San Francisco, California. Ms. Rodriguez's powerful style depicts a strong sense of movement, energy, and elegance. Most of her sculptures are kept under limited editions of 9. Her horses have won national competitions, "Best in Show Awards," and can be found in private collections worldwide. Since 1996 Ms. Rodriguez has been sharing her knowledge and passion teaching Classical Figure Sculpture with professional models from her studio in San Francisco. She is repeatedly invited to give live sculpture demonstrations at the California Palace of the Legion of Honor Museum in San Francisco. She offers sculpture workshops nationwide, gives private consultations and critiques. Ms. Rodriguez teaches at Waldorf High School Sculpture Department in San Francisco. I am fortunate to live close enough to Marilyn's San Francisco studio to be able to take a sculpture workshop with her. But when I'm not in one of her classes, reading this book allows me to access her insight, perception and experience in sculpture and proportion any time I want. I would highly recommend this book to anyone, whether a novice like myself or with more experience, who wishes to create figurative works of art that just look "right."
I love this book. Good detail instruction. Appropriate and clear photos and drawing. A good addition to my sculpting resourse library.

I have many books on both Anatomy and human proportions, but this one blows them out of the water. It is definitely going to be my favorite reference book in the studio.
A good basic book for proportions with some anatomy.
An awe inspiring amount of information regarding the bone structure of the human body and how relevant this information is when creating a sculpture. It may seem obvious to some, but we often emphasize our knowledge of muscles and musculature, yet forget the importance of the bone structure which supports the entire body. A beautifully presented study book filled with illustrations, and a practical reference book for all artists.
