Super easy read. Love the case stories. I know Dr. Bonnie as I lived in San Diego, CA. A lot of my friends used her to help their children with Epilepsy use cannabis. She is so knowledgable. Thank you Dr. Goldstein for writing this amazing book.I have a son with an autism diagnosis and I used medical cannabis for him for 2 years while I lived in CA. We saw so many gains, most Importantly my son had an improved quality of life. He was happier and able to understand his worlds much better. We saw improvement in his IEP goals, increased fine and gross motor function, less anxiety, decrease tummy bloat, improved digestion, improved cognition, improved mood, ability to learn increased, frustration decreased, speech improvements and decreased brain inflammation. I know because he had a big lump on the back of his head that softened and got smaller.Cannabis heals. It is a God given plant meant to heal us. It was used for centuries as medicine before greed took over and made it illegal. We have an endocannabinoid system. We create our own cannabinoids called endocannabinoids. Dr. Bonnie explains it more.

I just finished Dr. Goldstein’s book. It could be the most important book on the treatment of medical issues you’ll ever buy. Each section is backed up by numerous references to scientific studies. Cannabis has been used as a medicine for thousands of years. It’s a crime that it was made illegal in the early 1940’s. The fact that it has medical benefits is undeniable. It’s hard to read the numerous patient stories in the book and not be moved by the amazing results. As Dr. Goldstein said, “it’s not a miracle, it is medicine.” I hope everyone gets a chance to read this book.

It is good information about different diseases and conditions with different forms of Cannabis that can help. My husband was diagnosed with Parkinson July of 2016. With Doctor Medications, nutrition, Shaklee Vitamins and CBD liquid it has kept it limited to hand tremors. So the book was very helpful when navigating the world of Cannabis. It covers different ailments and was very interesting to read for anyone that is interested.

It frustrates me that so much time and energy has been wasted in the past by false claims that cannabis use is dangerous and leads to other drug use (which is truly dangerous). My 89 year old dad insisted that the book stay in the memory care unit for others to enjoy. I gladly agreed. My mom, with Alzheimers, laughed as I read it to her. The pictures are perfect.

The book is very sweet if you have a person with moderate to severe Alzheimer's to explain to children.I have mild cognitive impairment and it is really not accurate for that.

I was looking for something that would start the discussion. I was disappointed, because this book already had the grandma in the nursing home. My daughter is 8 and noticing some changes and I hoping to find a nice book to share the love and memories and make it age approriate without her worrying about the future yet.

My grandson's could not really understand why Grandma was not as 'quick' as she used to be. This book, very simply, explained it in a very simple manner. Excellent!

It helps children learn that some people c hange as they get old. It also teaches compassion. Good for younger children

I got this book at the library thinking it was about a girl's relationship with her grandmother. As I read it to her, I realized that the book deals with the progression of her grandmother's Alzheimer's disease. I am not one to cry easily, but this book really moved me to tears. It is extremely sensitive and thoughtful with how the parents explain the disease to their daughter and the things that they help her to do to maintain a relationship with her and to help the grandmother maintain her dignity.

My daughter's school librarian sent this book home when I asked for a book to help my daughter understand the permanence of this condition. The book was wonderful - we were able to laugh (grandma puts her shoes in the fridge) and even when the grandma moved to a nursing home, the story was not scary. The focus was on loving grandma just the way she was and helping grandma feel loved, even if she didn't remember.

this book is recommended for the children at my church. Almost all of the children have grandparents in the church and some are already facing this problem. It was a lovely book.

Great illustrations and design. Very well done.It's a lot more accessible for teens than a regular history textbook would be. It's not meant for a research paper, obviously, but its great at giving important background information.

A great telling of the tale of Alexander Hamilton with a more accurate and insightful take on his life than the uber popular musical. Fans of the musical looking for a bit more history and a little less embellishment without a history book feel will love this adaptation. The real story doesn't match musical fiction and while the life of someone like Hamilton can never entirely fit into a graphic novel, this one hits the right high points and captures the essence of the man along with great art.

It is good on its own, and supplements any prior experiences or investigations to Hamilton. Some of the story is slightly choppy, and the graphics frequently needed more background in the drawings. Edutainment at a high level.

I purchased this book after seeing it in a museum in Rhode Island. My son is fascinated with anything Alexander Hamilton related. He appeared to be very happy with the gift. The storyline, the artistry and the inking we're well done.

The art was fantastic, other than the mistakes in horse anatomy and saddles, bridles and other riding gear. There were many typos and mistakes in grammar, and sometimes the text strayed from the main point, but otherwise was written very well. The story went a bit slow and was a bit dull, but this was otherwise a good read. Nicely done.

It was very informative and gave me a broader knowledge of many of the founding fathers and their loved ones ! I really didn’t expect the format to be in comic book form, which proved to be a little annoying yet very different !

Way too dense.

Rating 3.5/5Warning: You will read this book in the voice of an English gentleman. It can't be helped.Due to the immense amount of hype surrounding the book, I was concerned that my expectations would far outweigh the abilities of this book to meet them; and while I can't say I am as enamored with it as most of the book community, I have to admit that this was a very fun ride that I found extremely enjoyable.This book follows Monty, a product of English nobility, who has been bread to be a gentleman; however, he is more inclined to live a roguish lifestyle and is the picture of debauchery. He likes to seduce both ladies and men, imbibe impressive amounts of alcohol, and essentially live a life against his father's expectations.As a last hurrah before he is expected to take over his family's estate, and Percy, his best friend and love interest, heads to law school, they are going to take a tour of "the Continent," which is basically mainland Europe. But the tour is complicated by the fact that Percy's father, a domineering and abusive man who is completely embarrassed by Monty's hedonistic lifestyle, hires a babysitter to accompany them on the tour which turns the tour into an overwhelmingly dull experience. It is further hampered by the presences of Monty's sister, who is temporarily accompanying them until she is taken to finishing school.However, the trip suddenly takes an adventurous turn after the group finds themselves pursued by the Duke of Bourbon who, we come to find out ,is after an item that Monty has stolen from him believing it to be a worthless trinket. The book then takes a turn into the mysterious and magical as the group tries to uncover the importance of this box and then use it to their own advantage.I'll admit that this story began slowly for me. I was not compelled by the plot until the actual mystery entered into the story and took the plot in a direction that was different from what I was expecting. Thought it wasn't quite a four star read for me, there were plenty of positive points. Here are my favorites:1. I love the voice in which the story is written. Lee does a fantastic job of capturing the vocabulary and style of 18th century English language. She also has a way of writing that is clever and witty.2. I also enjoyed the relationships that are formed within the story. I particularly enjoyed how a quasi-pirates essentially take the group under their wing, particularly Monty, and gives him the fatherly relationship he never has.3. Felicity is the character that truly made this book for me. I found Monty slightly irritating as he was usually selfish, stubborn and cowardly, but Felicity was amazing. She was bold, sarcastic, witty, smart, and not afraid to be brave in a time that was not kind to women.4. I really enjoyed and appreciated the historical context Lee added at the end of the book. Though it was at the end, it really added to my overall understanding and enjoyment of the plot.All in all this was a fun and enchanting read. Definitely worth a go

The Gentleman’s Guide is filled to the brim with comedic moments that are balanced out by surprisingly serious topics introduced throughout the characters’ long and arduous journeyNot only does Mackenzi Lee create a fun adventure filled with witty dialogue, bouts of debauchery, and intrigue, she also does an excellent job in exploring the human experience by providing situations and character relationships that inspire deep conversation.Her characters Monty, Felicity, and Percy are each so unique, well-developed, and multifaceted. Monty, our far-from-perfect protagonist, is self-centered, self-serving, blasé, reckless, insensitive, and cowardly. However, his heart is in a good place. Most of the time, at least. He is hyper-aware and very accepting of his sexuality; however, his confidence falters in the face of his father’s bigoted and domineering presence. Monty’s father plays a much larger role than expected as his treatment of Monty cuts very deep and affects his son’s behaviors in a seriously notable way. It was extremely heartbreaking to read in a book that I thought would be all laughs and jokes. Well, it isn’t, just so you know.As for the other characters, Felicity was an amazing female character. Though initially insensitive to Monty’s plight, she becomes fairly sympathetic towards the end. She proves to have an open mind, and on top of that, she has agency and a great sense of independence. I was impressed with her experience in medicine and her ongoing pursuit of knowledge. Because of this, I think it would be safe to say she’s the most clever and useful member of the group.Percy is truly a sweetheart. Only he truly knew how to deal with Monty, and it was very amusing to see how the two boys interacted. I greatly appreciated how Lee didn’t shy away from race and discrimination during this time period and instead dives right into these issues. Percy’s biraciality provides another dimension to this dark comedy and not only that, Percy’s medical condition also provides another topic of discussion.All the characters slowly evolve and become better versions of their past selves by the end. Monty and Percy’s relationship goes through rough times, but they eventually find their way. And in doing so, they’ve become one of my favorite OTPs!The story takes a surprising turn and transforms into a hectic, suspenseful journey accented with piracy and a touch of magic/alchemy. Unexpected? Yes. But still very captivating and even more romantic and dangerous than first anticipated.A Gentlemens’ Guide is a book that expertly balances humor and charm with provocative social commentary. I was very surprised by the darker, more weighty elements. The author navigates themes centered around racism, slavery, domestic abuse, sexism, homophobia, disability and mental illness, dysfunctional familial relations, and so much more. These heavier themes add great purpose to this romp of a good time, and I really couldn’t have imagined a better way of going about it. As a whole, this book is a perfectly blended adventure complete with fantastic characters. A total reread, if you ask me.

But the Grand Tour was but an excuse to get the characters to the Continent—much to my disappointment.The abbreviated Grand Tour morphed into an adventure/teens in danger storyline l, but that plot was overshadowed by the characters’ (mostly Monty-caused) multiple problems.Again I was surprised as the adventure storyline was eclipsed by a fantasy storyline about an almost-desperate search for an magical, all-powerful alchemical panacea.The incredibly interesting and well-drawn characters saved this book for me. Of the characters, I loved Felicity most, not to mention her intelligence, bravery and self-confidence.This book is written in first person, so at approximately page 150 Monty’s witty, self-centered chatter began to grate. Yes, Monty was funny, but how I yearned for multiple POVs—Percy and Felicity—to occasionally spare me Monty’s voice.Recommended but if you get this novel, ignore the blurbs about the Grand Tour.Unlike the majority of readers, I’m rating this 3 Stars.

And then a fire is reported in a forest close to base and a murder has occurred.The story continues until the equipment used for fighting fires is tampered with and they are put in danger in a fire.The smoke jumpers continue fighting wildfires with a twist on the final fire.This author again demonstrates her ability to learn the correct language and procedures for fighting wildfires and she completes a love story between firefighting incidents and keeps the readers attention on the characters as they go through this different summer. She also interposesa secondary love story and connects the events so that the reader is rewarded with an exciting story line and is able to follow through the entire book without loosing their place and to remain enthralled with the story line.

Such a refreshing and entertaining reading:1. I've never read a book about smoke jumpers, so I loved getting immersed in their foreign-to-me world.2. The main romance between Rowan & Gull was an absolute delight to read thanks to the lack of clichés. Every now and then I have enjoyed them in romance books, but a couple who communicates their feelings and thoughts will always be a winner for me. No need to use third parties or innecessary denials to stop them from getting their HEA.3. The romance subplot didn't bore me, and it usually does when it's not about the main couple.What stops this from being a perfect reading:The long descriptions about the missions got tiresome. I get being told once or twice about them, but there were many missions, so to read the technical talk over and over and over again was exhausting. (Although thankfully not as much as the one in the Inn BoonsBoro trilogy.)***OVERALLChasing Fire is another Nora Roberts winner. Too bad it isn't part of a series, would've loved to see every one of them getting a HEA like Rowan and Gull.

This book is one of my most favorite Nora Roberts' books.I have the physical book copy of this novel and years and years of reading and re-reading have curled the pages, cracked the spine, warped the cover and yet the story still sucks me in every time.I am in process of replacing the majority of my physical books with e-books (I sure wish they'd give us credit or something so you don't have to buy the same book twice at full price, grrr)Anyways one of the first books to be replaced with an e version is this one, Dance Upon the Air.As part of a trilogy it is a beautiful first part...but in truth more often than not I read it as a stand alone.It's not that the plot is so complicated or intense or anything...it's just that what Nora does best, she does in this book. She writes a world that you can drink in lie water. A few pages in you see the world, not the words.I can't tell you how many times I stepped off the ferry and wandered the high street with the main character.There have been times I'd leave this book (the physical copy) in a convenient place and just pop it open and read and re-read my favorite scenes.The description of the cafe and all the baked goods and the kitchen....just perfect. There's something about the way Nora writes, when she's "on" she is soooo on. The world is larger and richer than the few words on the page.Considering how she likes to weave a little magic in to a lot of her books, this one included, perhaps these novels where she's "on" are her own form of magic, the few simple words together on the page creating something together much grander than it really ought to be...Anyways, this book is my go to feel good story.The drama is light, not too intense.I don't mind intense but when life gets hectic or crazy or down right crappy it's nice to pick up a story that you can slide in to on any page and visit that world.I am from the East Coast myself originally so perhaps the descriptions of the little village on an island, the trees and water and rocks and salty air just strike a particular chord with me.I've said before, Nora could write an entire book or books on the day to day mundane goings on in the little cafe book shop and I'd read it.Sometimes the things she writes about, the most simple are the most effective...As I said it's part of a trilogy so you sort of have to read all 3 to feel complete.But this is my favorite of the 3. I'll attach photos of the physical copy so you can see how well loved it is.Not all of Nora's books are hits for me...in recent years some of them are almost misses. I remarked in another review that I wasn't sure if it was her or me who has changed.Thus far this story hasn't changed for me, it's familiar and comforting like your favorite blanket :)I didn't and won't go into plot details, if you like small island life, books and cafe offerings. A bit of mystery a lot of magic and a sweet touch of romance (actual romance!) then you'll like this.I am thrilled to have the e-book version finally. There is something supremely comforting at knowing I have a ton of Nora stories in one little device that I can carry every where. :)Oh and one other thought while it's on my mind. I know firt hand how slightly painful it can be to part with physical books. But nostalgia and cost of e-books etc aside, I can say from experience that the physical book is not what you love. It's the story. And a good story, like this one, sucks you in. You'll forget within moments WHAT you're reading on, or even what you're reading. A good story is alive and not bound to paper.I started reading my new ebook version of Dance Upon the Air and on my tablet and was succcccked right in, as always. :)
