Not as graphically stunning as the Lonely Planet series, but chock full of information nonetheless. I stumbled upon this series after finding out the Lonely Planet Pocket Series didn’t cover San Diego, Denver, or Colorado Springs. I have to say, i really enjoyed the book, found a few amazing beaches in San Diego and some amazing brunch places to go with my mom! It’s well worth it if you are looking to expand your travel book collection....

The single star is for the print quality, not the content. Pages 194-224 are blurry, and the rest of the pages are only passable. I ordered a replacement copy in hopes that I had gotten a dud, but it was also blurry. Content is great. Wish I could get a good copy.

I know a city or county can't be changed so much to write a new book but having almost exactly the same information, even same wording from a 6 years old version is kinda disappointing.

Our family has been to San Diego at least half a dozen times over the years. It's a great town for a family vacation, with a ton of things to do. Part of the reason for our numerous visits was legoland, a mecca for my kids. We enjoyed the museums in Balboa park as well as hte variety of options for dining and entertainment (not available in Hawaii). My kids are older now, in college, one of them not too far away, in Pasadena. I expect we are going to find ourselves in the neighborhood a few more times, at least. There is quite a bit we hhave not done or seen because we were traveling with young children. I picked this up to look at those other options and to familiarize myself with some of hte neighborhoods we did not get to know.I have commented in other reviews that I frequently get 2 books when planning a trip, a comprehensive one for planning, and a slimmer one to carry. Unlike most Fodor's guides, this would fall into the second category. My 4 star rating is by comparison to the other guides we have gotten from Fodors in the recent past, and also from my knowledge of the city. it is a prettty light-weight guide for a city with so much to offer. It has the usual maps and guides, all of what you expect in a Fodors guide,. Where it falls down a bit for me is in the descriptions, whjich are not very well fleshed out. For example. one of our favorite restaurants is mentioned, but they do not tell you that it is the restaurant for the culinary school, and so a fabulous bargain. It is something I might not have given a second thought from reading this guide, whereas from p;rior experience, it is a destination for us, a city highlight. I also found the hotel recommendations somewhat mundane, sticking primarily to the major chains. There is so much diversity in this city! A lot is missed (including 2 hotels which I would describe as gems).O know that in a city with so much going on it is not going to be possible to cover everything. This guide hits the highlights and a bit more. It is nowhere near as comprehensive as their Alaska guide. I think it is useful, but would treat it as na auxilliary, or tour guide. It's packable and portable and that is a plus. It gives you the highlights and some solid choices for lodging and dining, and does help orient you to the city, I would have liked it better if there was a bit more depth.

This is a good travel guide to San Diego with insightful information to get you started. I have been to San Diego a few times and this book hits most of the high marks as far as I can tell. I ordered this book mainly to see what else the city has to offer that I haven't been to or done already. Surprisingly, it covers a lot more than I thought and they look interesting enough that I would like to explore next time I go there.The book divides San Diego geographically into six neighborhoods or areas and covers them individually so that you can quickly find the relevant information as such facts, maps, top attractions, etc. This is handy since you can easily focus on the area you're visiting. The book also spends a great deal on where to eat, where to stay, nightlife, performing arts, beaches, sports & outdoors and shopping. If you're interested in the local culture, food, lifestyle, you'll find a lot of helpful information in it as well.The design and layout of the book is clean and easy to read, which is nice if you are going to reference it a lot on the go. There are pictures and maps throughout the book. Although the maps are small and localized, they are reasonably detailed and useful for orientation. There is a large, pullout map at the end of the book that gives you better details on the city as well as the MTS Trolley system.The book is slim and compact enough to carry with you on the go. While it covers a lot of interesting places to go or things to do, their description tends to be brief due to the size of the book. I would recommend getting a more detailed travel guide that you can use to plan your trip, and use this guide as a portable companion to carry with you on the go.Last but not least, the book has a chapter on the North County and around. It has some good planner for the northern coast from Del Mar to Oceanside as well as northern inland areas. They have their top highlights, where to eat and stay, shopping, etc.All in all, this is a good travel guide that has something for everyone. That said, I would recommend getting a more detailed guide to go with it for planning purposes.

It was awesome! It was great learning about what I believe. Not finished yet, but so far great book to read on being Southern Baptist.

Obviously, this book is written about Southern Baptists by Southern Baptists for Southern Baptists, encouraging them to remember the past, consider the present, and look to the future. But do you have to be Southern Baptist to benefit? Absolutely not. There are elements that any minister can apply to either his/her movement or his/her local church.The first half of the book sets a foundation based on the history and teachings of the Baptist movement. The second half challenges us to be evangelistic and open to change the negotiables of our faith while maintaining the non-negotiables of doctrine or what makes Baptists unique, such as a regenerated membership, foundation solely on Scripture, and an autonomous fellowship.Every minister should read this book, especially Southern Baptists interested in making their congregations and denomination stronger.

This collection of essays from many of the best known conservative leaders within the Southern Baptist Convention traces the history of the convention and charts a course for its future. The future, in the view of these pastors, scholars and leaders, is to go back to the core biblical values that marked the SBC in the past while seeking to understand how to engage the culture with the gospel.Recurring themes in the book include the need to avoid the programmatic and pragmatic approaches of the past without neglecting entirely what organized efforts like the Cooperative Program can accomplish. The necessity of regenerate church membership is also often mentioned as a key factor churches must face in the years to come. The plateau/decline in baptisms is pointed out as a factor indicating a lack of evangelism among Southern Baptists. It seems that the conservative resurgence of the early 80's has yet to bear fruit in many respects. This book was a very brief overview of the Enneagram personality system. It took me about 2 hours to read the book from start to finish. I would not recommend purchasing this book. I'd save my money and spend it elsewhere. I was so frustrated with the "test" that was listed in the book. I sat down and took the "test" and notated all of my answers, but was highly disappointed with no scoring and/or answers to my test. It was just, here, spend time reading this and doing this for no absolute reason. We won't help you determine your Enneagram type, just waste your time. The grammatical errors and typos were out of control! I'll admit, I am a word nerd, but....this was awful. Who edited this book? It was almost as if the author's second language was English, because some of the sentences didn't make sense. The words didn't flow in normal speaking patterns. I believe another review commented on it, and I shrugged and bought the book anyway. Don't.Buy another book on Enneagrams...this is a total waste of money. I would return it but, sadly I wrote in it.

Good book for tyro's to the Enneagram. it is an outstanding book.great topics. I hope if you read this book then you can learn more.Very nice short book that gets to the meat of the matter of what the enneagram is about. Very auxiliary in discovering remotely more about yourself without having to go into a great deal of depth. A good read. I would highly recommended to read this book everyone.Thanks .

Having been to Puerto Vallarta several times, I was interested to read that section. Even though the book is given a 2016 date, it fails to get correct the data on "Dreams PV." Dreams became a Hyatt Ziva in fall of 2014.I have also been to Sayulita several times. The comments on that town are not too bad.I'd say the book is fine if you've never been there before.

This book is a MUST READ for anyone searching for answers in healing in the supernatural. My Test-imonial (out of three); I did what the author taught and prayed over a woman in Ohio, who was bed ridden from a minor stroke and had back pains. I asked her what her pain level was, in tears she told be 12.I grabbed a hold of her ankles and prayed and commanded for the spirit of infirmity to come out of her and to be healed in Jesus Name (Our Spiritual Contract) .... After about five minutes of praying (my first time praying for someone), I opened my eyes, tears were flowing from her face. I asked her what her pain level was now and she said ZERO!I told her not to be lying to me! (Faith = confidence!) She told me she felt a warm fuzzy feeling come over her whole body where the pain (spirit) was GONE and she felt at 100% peace. Every Christian in America needs to buy this book. We all have been lied to. We ARE the church!

UPDATE 3/29/15It works! Since reading this book several months ago, I thought I'd give it a try and put into action what I read. I have been praying for healing for people and have seen miracle after miracle - often instant healing! My faith for praying for healing has skyrocketed and now often when I go to stores or restaurants, I look for strangers to pray for. I just do what he said to do in the book: ask the Holy Spirit to come, once feeling God's presence, I speak directly to the body parts and command the healing in Jesus' name (sometimes 6-7 times or more - I learned from the book that persistence is the key), tell pain/inflammation to leave and often tell spirits of pain/infirmity/trauma to leave too. This book is the first that really encouraged me to know that God WANTS to use me (and YOU!) to heal the person for whom I'm praying! The miracles keep coming!Original review:I couldn't put this book down. I recommend this book to anyone interested in praying for the sick or being healed themselves. It is practical, interesting (lots of anecdotes), simple to read/understand and lays out scriptural basis well. It covers topics pertinent to healing that I had always wondered about (e.g. spiritual influences in sickness, faith, emotional healing, demons/deliverance, what if healing doesn't come, why some people lose their healing, etc.) and explains it in a clear way. The book filled me with knowledge and new faith to pray for the sick as well as increased hunger to hear God. This book is a must-read for all believers to know and exercise the authority given to us.

That’s a big thing to say for a book, and that’s what keeps this one painfully average.You get glimpses into the world and how it works, but the book is missing those little touches that really brings the world to life.The characters have personalities, but it’s hard to see and understand them when they keep jumping topics and jumping from one thought/emotion to another. This is most painfully obvious with the MC and least so with Wizard Basalt, which makes him the most likeable and relatable character in the book.The plotpoints are there. I had trouble several times figuring out what they were as the characters bounced around whatever thought entered the author’s mind.Then there’s Cranny and his humor. Fits in and will be funny to many in the recommended age range, but the book hinges A LOT on this humor and it is constantly immersion-breaking and eye-rollingly dumb to all not amused by it.With all the cons versus pros why is it still three stars? The first book was so enjoyable I couldn’t bring myself to give this less. There are moments where this book is on par with the first book, but sadly, it is inferior in all other ways.

I like this story alot.still has grammatical errors and stuff but my biggest beef is with the "Cranny" character.its supposed to be his subconscious slash split mind construct yet some how it can use all Danny's ability without his permission OR knowledge and now it can apparently cause him physical harm?reference the scene where it used his magic to trip him and make him fall on his face.how long before it decides the Danny personality needs to go songs can take over?it seems more and more like Danny doesn't do anything with his power.he just has "Cranny" do it all.he didn't even design the awesome new palace at the end his mental construct did.seems like more and more Danny is irrelevant and totally replaceable.thats why cranny needs to die.

The story was still enjoyable and I am glad I finished the book.There were just too many little things that added up to me not liking it as much as the first book. To avoid spoiler and to let the reader take their own journey I am not going to explain those things.But two notes to the author 1) check your edit, there were some minor issues and inconsistencies. 2) Please tone down Cranny by the end I dread the little “*”. It started to feel like every other sentence was just some snide remark. I understand trying to interject some humor but it became tedious.

A good second book in the Pentacle series. This slice of life, reincarnated on a game world story, has moved past all the magical academy stuff from book 1. It instead focuses on Danny’s training in his new elemental aspects and his efforts to help the elves with their magical problems. If he can help them, they’ll help the humans fight off the invading goblin army.If you liked book 1, you’ll like book 2. There’s a lot of DBZ style training and transformations, but it still maintains it’s RPG aspect progression. The harem stuff is still here too. You don’t get to the action till the last act, but it’s a good way to show off all that training.Overall, I enjoyed the story, though I’ll admit that book 2 is a hard place to jump into the series. Go read book 1 first.Score: 7 out of 10.

I read the first two books. There’s a lot of potential here (cool story, unique magic system, etc.). Unfortunately, the author ruined perfectly good books. The world building leaves a lot to be desired. The character development is severely lacking. The author is transported to another world where all societies are still at the pre-industrial stage. Somehow, every character from the his parents to the elven Queen talks and acts like a parody of a suburban a teenager. Even the elven queen acts like an adolescent girl. The characters also make really stupid decisions. No one in the book seems to think 5 minutes ahead. Everybody just reacts to whatever is in front of them. Moreover, no one seems to be able to accomplish anything on their own. The hero always saves they day. He defeats the bad guys, discovers plots, builds a new city, blah, blah, blah. Add in the pedophile element, the protagonist is. 44 and is paired with 3 adolescent girls. Not a fan.

The low rating is due in great part to the non-existent editing. As harsh as it sounds, I found myself wondering if he wrote the book on his cell phone. A simple sweep with a WORD grammar check would have picked up on the copious lack of consistent (and accuracy) in tenses and plurals. It was distracting and aggravating.Story ended up being a bit disappointing in the end. It seemed a bit disjointed in the engagements with the elves and the trio. However, I would have given it a 3 or 4 but for the terrible editing.

This series is probably one of the best three xianxia styled stories I have read. This book, in particular, was awesome. Though the MC is ridiculously over powered, he is not perfect, and the ineptitude is rather humorous at times. This series is great and this book was awesome (I know I am repeating myself). Look forward to the next book.
